Dale N. Hirsch, 80, of St. Jacob, Ill., born May 13, 1929, in St. Jacob, Ill., died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Hirsch had been a dairy lab technician for ECCO Dairy, Edwardsville, Ill., and for Mid-America Dairy, St. Louis, Mo. He had lived all of his life in St. Jacob, Ill., and was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ. He had retired from the St. Jacob Fire Department after 40 years, was the past president of Keystone Cemetery, a former member of the School Board of Triad Community School District, a charter member of the St. Jacob, Saddle Club and Dew Drop Inn Social Club.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise, nee Koehler, Hirsch; parents, Norman P. and Lenore I., nee Searcy, Hirsch; a grandson, Todd Baer; and brother, Paul Hirsch.

Surviving are his son and daughters, Tim (Ragina) Hirsch of Highland, Ill., Linda (Jim) Baer of Highland, Ill., and Joni (Mike) Johnston of Highland, Ill.; grandchildren, Jared Baer, Amanda Holcmann, Emily Johnston, Austin Hirsch and Kaelin Hirsch; great-grandchildren, Scott Voyles, Deana Baer, Jeffrey Baer, Brandon Baer, Kamden Baer, Tyler Rivas, Mackinzie Rivas, Hayley Rivas, Trent Holcmann, Brayden Holcmann and Madelyn Holcmann; and a brother, Dennis (Margaret) Hirsch of Annapolis, Md.

Memorials may be made to Keystone Cemetery or St. Jacob United Church of Christ.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home in St. Jacob, Ill. The St. Jacob Fire Department will conduct a walk through at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob, Ill., with the Rev. Gary Kniepkamp officiating. Interment will be in Keystone Cemetery in St. Jacob, Ill.
