D. Kent Trone, age 73, of Troy, IL, born March 12, 1934, in Sheldons Grove, IL, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Kent served in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962.

Mr. Trone received his law degree from the University of Illinois in 1960.

He practiced law in the Rushville and the Edwardsville area for 37 years. During that time, he served as attorney for the Village of Livingston, IL, and the Livingston Sanitary District, as well at the Village of Marine, IL, and the Marine Sanitary District.

Mr. Trone was appointed as Government Appeal Agent for Local Board 166 of the Selective Service System in Edwardsville, IL, and served from 1965-1967.

He was appointed as a Special Assistant Attorney General of the State of Illinois for Madison County, IL.

He served as a Trustee for the Board of Trustees, Glen Carbon, IL. He was appointed as an Associate Judge in Madison County, IL, and served from 1971 to 1975.

After he resigned as an Associate Judge in 1975, Kent returned to the private practice of law. He retired on January 1, 1997.

Mr. Trone was licensed to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, was a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinos State Bar Association, and the Madison County Bar Association.

Kent is survived by his wife, Kay (Embrey) Trone; son, Mark D. (Toni) Trone, Raleigh, NC; daughter, Christine (Scott) Stinnett, Fairview Heights, IL; brother, Dennis (Elizabeth) Trone, Petersburg, IL; four grandchildren, Jordan and Lily Trone, and Noah and Tanner Stinnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doane G. and Mabel (Ray) Trone, and one brother, Robert E.L. Trone.

A private memorial service will be held at at later date. Memorials may be made to the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation or the Augusta Cemetery Association in care of Laughlin Funeral Home, 205 Edwardsville Road, Troy, IL, 62294.
