With profound sadness, Cory Michael Wellen, formerly of Troy Illinois, died
unexpectedly on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the age of 38. He worked in sales at
Spinnaker Resorts in Branson, Missouri. He is survived by his parents Carol Bauer
(Deb Szatkowski), Brad Wellen (Ellen), sister Stacy Wellen, step-brother Kyle
Gordon, and numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his
maternal grandparents, Fred and Alberta (Bertie) Bauer and paternal
grandparents, August and Viola Wellen.

Cory was an extremely bright and gifted loving young man who was successful at
any job/endeavor he undertook. He loved his family and friends and had a special
place in his heart for his dog, Jack. He had an infectious smile that could light up a
room and gave the best "bear" hugs that warmed your heart. Cory will be deeply
missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. in the
Oak Room at the American Legion in Collinsville, Illinois 62234 located at 1022
Vandalia Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Partners for Pets in Troy, Illinois or
Amare, NFP in Wood River, Illinois.
