Clarence Adelhardt, Troy resident, died peacefully at his home at Morning Side in Troy on Monday evening.  His family was at his side.
Clarence celebrated his100th birthday on July 20, 2017.

After returning from the War, the young family moved to his family's farm in Pin Oak Township where Clarence was able to live out his passion for farming from 1948-84. Clarence was proud that he still owned a parcel of the original land.   From 1962-1975, Clarence and Jane co-owned and operated an agri-business, Marine Anhydrous Ammonia in Marine.

The couple enjoyed traveling with friends and family. He and Jane attended many of the Seventh Armored Division Reunions over the years. In 1984, they travelled to Germany to retrace the Seventh Armored Division's path as it moved through France and Germany in fall and winter of 1944.

Mr. Adelhardt enjoyed golfing at Oakbrook Men's league for many years taking up the sport after his retirement.  He and Jane enjoyed golfing and several annual golf tourneys with family to celebrate Clarence's birthdays.  The couple enjoyed league bowling for many years in Collinsville, Troy and Edwardsville and playing pinochle, dominoes and other games with friends.  Clarence was an avid Euchre player and a more avid Cardinal baseball fan.  On July 7, 2017 he was honored by the Cardinals by the invitation to throw out the first pitch to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Clarence has been a lifelong member of Frieden's United Church of Christ, a member of the Collinsville VFW and the Troy Volunteer Fire Department.
