Chester M. Huston, 82, of Pin Oak Township, Troy, Ill., born March 3, 1930, in Mattoon, Ill., died peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2012, at home.
He was the son of Charles and Maude, nee Smith, Huston. They preceded in death as did two brothers, Robert Eugene and Donald Dean; and a sister, Shirley (Dominic) Sartoris.
He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, Ill., since 1945. On June 10, 1950, he married Thelma B. Huston, the daughter of the late , Charles and Edna, nee Herren, Bangert.
Chester graduated from McCray Dewey Township High School, Troy, Ill., in 1948, and three days later started working as a carpenter with his dad. Both working for "Hap" Liebler. He retired in 1997 and was a member of Carpenters Local 295 for 64 years. He was very active in the church serving on the council, the cemetery board, the Brotherhood, the Chancel Choir, and was a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Fellowship.
He and his wife started Huston Construction and finished developing Bangert Subdivision in Pin Oak Township.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, his garden and spending time with Don and Gladys, both at home and on trips. He especially enjoyed travelling through all the western states, including Alaska and about two thirds of the eastern states. His health stopped their traveling before finishing the remainder of the states.
Chet and Thelma enjoyed almost 62 years of marriage. From this marriage in addition to Thelma, four children survive, Marcy (John) Hardwick of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Dean (Teresa) Huston of Freeburg, Ill., Stan (Vivian) Huston of Troy, Ill., and Tona (Rick) Walker of Troy, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Huston of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Shelly (Thomas) Farmer of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Cory (Joslyn) Brandt of Christiana, Tenn., Crystal (Tim Lindley) Huston of Granite City, Ill., Addie Huston of Freeburg, Ill., Tanner (Amber Colwell) Riden of and Lukas Skalisius of Troy, Ill.; four step grandchildren, Aaron Hardwick of Galesburg, Ill., Trenton Thompson of Freeburg, Ill., Julia (Josh) Whitehead of East Alton, Ill., and Jacob Cook of O'Fallon, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Katelynn and Jessica Farmer of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Garrick Brandt of Christiana, Tenn.; two step great-grandchildren, Audrey and Morgan Whitehead of East Alton, Ill.; and a special cousin and sister-in-law, Gladys Huston of Troy, Ill.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.
Friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, Ill.
A celebration of Chet's Life will be heldat 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, at the church with Pastor Cindy Bumb officiating. Chet requested cremation and his ashes to be scattered at a later time.
