Catherine Louise "Cathy" Hill, age 53, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. Cathy grew up in Belleville and taught at St. Mary's Catholic School in Belleville and St. Albert the Great Catholic School in Fairview Heights before devoting herself to full-time motherhood. She was active as a parent volunteer while her children attended school at St. John Neumann. In 1992, Cathy returned to full-time work, teaching second grade at St. John Neumann Catholic School in Maryville. She formerly had worked during her summers at Our Lady of the Snows Shrine in Belleville, was active in Prairie State Games and had coached her daughter's soccer team.

Visitation: 4:00 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2002 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 155 North Main, Glen Carbon, Illinois and again Monday morning from 9:00 to 9:30.

Mass of Christian Burial: 9:30 am, Monday, November 11, 2002 at St. Cecilia Church.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the St. John Neumann Foundation, to directly benefit the children to whom she devoted her life.

Cathy is survived by her husband Brad, whom she married August 21, 1970; her son Christopher of Glen Carbon and her daughter Jennifer of Lawrence, Kansas. She is also survived by her sister Patty (Jon) Bruns of Collinsville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Loretta Schneider and by her nephew Todd Bruns.
