Obituary

Carolyn S. Battles, age 84, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family at her home located in Marine, Illinois, on July 29, 2022.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a large extended family including both beloved relatives and close friends. She loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Restoration Gospel Lighthouse Church in Wood River, IL. Carolyn taught children's church for many years and served her congregation honorably in the role of Pastor's Wife as well as traveling extensively with her husband ministering the Word of God.

Carolyn was truly blessed with the gift of hospitality and found much joy in taking care of her family and guests in her home. One never entered her home without receiving a pleasant greeting along with offers of refreshments or meals. Her family and friends will always remember her gentle, loving spirit as well as her joyful laughter, sense of humor, and sincere love for everyone she met.

Preceding Carolyn in death were her parents, Thomas & Aileen (McCord) Gordon, first husband Russell E. Kasting, Sr., sister Phyllis Boone, brother George Gordon and stepson John Battles.

Kasting, Jr. (Jamie), Glenn Kasting (Jeannie),0 Karen Bailey (Johnna Brown), David Battles (Kerry), Donald Battles Sr. (Kristi), Mark Battles, Luke Battles (Charlena), Susan Battles (daughter in-law), Grandchildren: Carolyn Bailey, Melissa Kasting (Karl), Jason Kasting (Amy), Cameron Kasting, Crystal Cox (James), James Kasting, Holly Hemphill, Byron Morris, Stephanie Waters, Joshua Battles, Donald Battles Jr., Andrea Battles, Keeleigh Mouser (Damon), Michael Shoniger, Robert (Bejay) Shoniger (Laura), Chaunta Davis (Craig), Samuel Battles, Abigail Glezen, Melissa Smith, Leah Heubner (Nub), Ashley Bratcher (Tony), Lucas Battles, Mallena Battles, Allena Martin (Blake), Also survived by 25 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Visitation for Carolyn will be held 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Richeson Funeral Home,  205 Edwardsville Road, Troy, IL.

Services will be held 1 pm on Saturday, August 6, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL with Rev. Ron Sutton officiating.  Interment will be in Marine Cemetery, Marine, IL.
