Mrs. Carol Lee Vernon, (nee: Spichall), born November 14, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, died April 10, 2007 at Jefferson Barracks Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Mrs. Vernon has lived in Troy, Illinois since 2001, coming from Edwardsville, Illinois. Carol was a Veteran of the United States Army. She entered service on July 22, 1970 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and during her tenure with the U.S. Army, she received the National Defense Service Medal and served as a Medical Corpsman. Mrs. Vernon was a homemaker.

Mrs. Vernon is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Elvina (nee:Selle) Spichall, and her brother Richard Johnson who passed away July 14, 2006.

Mrs. Vernon is survived by her son George (Amanda) Vernon of Troy, Illinois, her daughter Mrs. Kathryn (William) Tammen of Troy, Illinois, her sister-in-law Claudia Johnson of Belleville, Illinois, and four grandchildren, Tristyn Tammen, Siadie, Jordi and Emily Vernon.

VISITATION HOURS: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2007.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, April 13, 2007 from the Laughlin Funeral Home "Chapel" with the Reverend Jerry Kizzire officiating. Followed by full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
