Obituary

Carol Anne (Hawkins) Byrne, age 92, of Troy, Il passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL. She was born June 12, 1933, daughter of Clyde Horton Hawkins and Francis Willard (Williams) Hawkins of Homeland FL.

Carol married Thomas Regis Byrne October 24, 1953, in Granite City, Illinois and he passed away on April 24, 2005, She was also preceded in death by her father, Clyde Horton Hawkins, mother, Francis Willard Hawkins; father-in-law Regis Cannoven Byrne; mother-in-law, Florence Magdeline (Gush) Byrne; siblings, Robert Lewis Hawkins, Joseph Dean Hawkins, Elisie Faye (Hawkins) Gassett; son, Timothy Alan Byrne; and her daughter, Katheryn Anne Noeth.

Carol is survived by her son, Kevin (Linda) Byrne; daughter-in-law, DeeAnne Byrne-Scott; her grandchildren, Erin (Chris) Dietrich, Kyle (Kaitlin) Byrne, Shawn (Whitney) Byrne, Ryan (Christine) Byrne, Kourtney (Luke) Weaver and Kara (Josh) Stroder; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Riley and Tucker Dietrich, Evi, Greyer, Loch and Rowdy Weaver, Quintin, Brooks and Harper Byrne, Colin and Nathan Byrne, Jamison and Palmer Byrne, Magdeline and Orson Stroder.

To her survivors and to those who passed before her she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and beloved Aunt Silver Fox. Her dinner table was the place to be on any holiday, with Thanksgiving always being an epic feast. In her later years she enjoyed quilting, at home and with the ladies in her church group. She was also a voracious reader, and her consumption of romance novels was most assuredly unequaled. She will be missed by all.
