Carl E. Melugin, 83, of Troy, Ill., born Oct. 20, 1932, in St. Louis, Mo., died April 30, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
Carl was a Navy Seal and participated in Operation Ivy in the fall of 1952, he was a three time Purple Heart Recipient. He was a Life member of the VFW Post 976 in Troy, Ill., and the Elks Lodge 2455 in High Ridge, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Eliza, nee McGouh, Melugin; two brothers; and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Shelia, nee Moore, Melugin, whom he married Oct. 20, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Stacey O'Brien of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Charles A. Anderson III of Collinsville, Ill.; and grandchildren, Colleen and Kyle O'Brien.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday May 4, 2016, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the funeral home, with Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
