Walter Ellis "Bud" Gaultney Jr., 88, of St. Jacob, IL, born October 31, 1930 in Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL
Bud was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL, faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bud was a graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran grade school class of 1944 and McCray-Dewey High School class of 1948. He retired from New York Central/ Conrail after 40 years of service and owned and operated St. Jacob Transport for 25 years. He was a Life member of the VFW Post 5694 Highland, Busong-Mersinger American Legion Post 665, St. Jacob for over 59 years, retired after 20 years of service from the St. Jacob Volunteer Fire Dept. Bud was an avid race fan, was past president of the Highland Speedway and Southwestern Auto Racing Association and Race Track Official/Track Scorer at tracks including Highland Speedway, Tri-City Speedway, Capital Speedway in Holts Summit, MO for several years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Gaultney; parents, Walter Ellis Sr. and Gladys (nee Island) Gaultney; and two sisters, Betty Wilke and Irene Kohl.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian (nee Nagel) Gaultney of St. Jacob, IL; children, Kerry (Deb) Gaultney of Collinsville, IL and Kim (Rob) Bindrim of Troy, IL; grandchildren, Walter Ellis Gaultney III, Jennifer (Jason) Kuhlman, Rachel (Tim) Dotson, Kristin (Tyler) Robbins, Jamey (Erin) Criswell, Alissa (Jacob) Moody, Kari (Cody Strawser) Bindrim, Robby (Danielle) Bindrim; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Ryker Criswell, Jackson, Lilliana, Aubriella and Hudson Moody, Eloise and Gabriella Strawser; brother, Kenneth Gaultney of O'Fallon, IL; sisters, Frieda Sponemann of Collinsville, IL, Virginia Neibrugge of Collinsville, IL, Fran (Bill) Kohl of Troy, IL and Phyllis (Phil) Weatherspoon of Troy, IL, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday, December6, 2018 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Brusacker officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Troy, IL.
