Browder Franklin Butler, 84, of Blue Mound, Ill., born April 26, 1925, in Rardin, Ill., died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Fair Haven Christian Home, Decatur, Ill.
Mr. Butler was a pipe fitter for A.E. Staley's Manufacturing where he retired in 1986 after 39 years of service. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy on Sept. 25, 1943, serving in World War II aboard the SS Asa Gray and the SS James W. Fanning, being discharged on March 21, 1947. Franklin will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Browder B. and Velma P., nee Mercer, Butler.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ruth, nee Ellis, Butler of Blue Mound, Ill., whom he married on March 21, 1947, in Jerseyville, Ill.; his son, Rodney Franklin (Sharon) Butler of Decatur, Ill.; grandson, James Franklin (Beth) Butler; great-grandchildren, Taylor and BJ Butler.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Ellen Moma officiating. Burial will be at Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, Ill.
