Andrew Gombos, 88, of Troy, Ill., born April 29, 1925, in Worden, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Liberty Village of Maryville, Ill.
Andrew was a life member of Washington Park VFW Post #6372. He was always proud of serving his country in the United States Navy during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith E., nee Kasson, Gombos; a son, Andrew A. Gombos; his parents, Frank and Margaret Gombos; brothers, Joe, Bert, Frank Jr., Louie and John Gombos; and sister, Margaret Gombos.
Surviving are his children, Larry A. (Hai) Gombos of Parker, Colo., Bert (Jeanette) Gombos of Pocahontas, Ill., Frank (Rose) Gombos of Bunker Hill, Ill., Margaret Gombos of Albuquerque, N.M., and Andrea (Glen) Gutjahr of Collinsville, Ill.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Willie (Ruth) Gombos.
Memorials may be made to Friedens Cemetery or Fisher House at Jefferson Barracks.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, and 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
