Obituary

Amos Floyd Hackworth, 88, of Paragould Ark., born on March 13, 1924, in Litchfield, Ark., entered into rest on Sunday morning, May 27, 2012, at St. Bernard Hospice Center in Jonesboro, Ark.


Mr. Hackworth married the love of his life, Gracie Mae Decker on Nov. 4, 1942, and spent the next 70 years raising their family. He attended Christ United Methodist Church of Paragould, Ark. He was a former member of the National Rifle Association, and St. Libory Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time playing card and games with his family and friends. He retired from Missouri Tank and Boiler Company of St. Louis, Mo., and return with his wife to Paragould, Ark., where they spent the last 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Delia Mae, nee Stormes, Hackworth; his son, Floyd Jr.; four brothers, Elmo, Dryl, Winford and Doyle Wayne; and three sisters, Cleo, Dorothy and Sharon.

Surviving are his loving wife, Gracie Mae; son, Roy (Donna) Hackworth of Kentucky; four daughters, Kathryn (John) Donohue of Illinois, Edna (Donald) Dippel of Florida, Naomi (Tom) Weaver of Missouri, Sandra (Charles) Sims of Paragould, Ark.; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Hackworth of Arkansas; four sisters, Gertie Cox, Ellere Johnston and Barb Smith, all from Arkansas, and Lois Modarelli of Nevada, along with many nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be received at Christ United Methodist Church of Paragould, Ark., or at St. Bernard's Hospice Center, Jonesboro, Ark.

Family will receive visitors from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at. Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Paragould, Ark., at a later date for family and friends.
