Leroy "Alvin" Scantling, age 72, of Troy, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, January 28, 2004, at Kindred Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Alvin was born January 6, 1932 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to William Henry and Winnie Mae (nee Fennell) Scantling. He retired as a Registered Nurse in Big Springs, Texas. He lived in Troy for two years, coming from Big Springs, Texas.
He is survived by one son, John Mark (Mickey) Scantling of Burleson, Texas; one daughter, Melanie (Don) Elson of Troy, Illinois; three brothers, Sid (Nora) Scantling of Comanche, Texas, Bob Scantling of Las Lunas, Texas, and Donald (Donna) Scantling of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three sisters, Margaret (Wink) Lee of Mexico, Dorothy (Luis) Ornealas of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Bettie Brown of Georgia; five grandchildren, Andy, Ashley, D.J., Ariel, and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William "Bill" Scantling and a sister, Wilma Foster.
