Obituary

Mr. Aloys H. Brendel, 90 years, formerly of Troy, Illinois, born August 14,1916, passed away January 23, 2007 at Staunton Community Hospital, Staunton, Illinois.

Mr. Brendel was born in Troy, Illinois, moved to Carlinville for a short time, then moved to St. Louis, Missouri for a short period before moving to Troy for many years. He was a member of the Troy V.F.W. Post #976, and the American Legion Post #708, and a past member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Illinois and later a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, Illinois.Mr. Brendel was retired as a machinist for General Steel in Granite City, Illinois and served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Brendel is survived by his three sons; Donald L. (Kay) Brendel of Troy, Illinois, Keith A. (Donna) Brendel of Highland, Illinois, Doug R. (Debbie) Brendel of Troy, Illinois, his brother; Charles (Florence) Brendel of St. Ann, Missouri, his three sisters; Wilma Cusimano of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Halley of St. Louis, Missouri, Violet Tacchi of St. Louis, Missouri, six grandchildren; Kent Brendel, Steve (Monica) Brendel, Dave (Lisa) Brendel, Todd Brendel, Carrie (Bryan) Andreas and Doug Brendel, five great-grandchildren; Andrew Brendel, Jesse Brendel, Seth Brendel, Bryanna Brendel and Amira Joy Andreas.

Mr. Brendel is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary (nee: Gobel) Brendel, his first wife of 42 years, Leona (nee: Russell) Brendel, and his second wife, Marie (nee: Kueker) Brendel, who passed away December 31, 1986, three brothers, George, Tony and Ernest Brendel, three sisters, Verona Smith, Margaret Ries and Helen Whittington, and a granddaughter, Nicole Lee Brendel.

VISITATION HOURS: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home after 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 25, 2007.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be Friday, January 26, 2007 at 10 A.M. at the Laughlin Funeral Home "Chapel" with Reverend Scott Hawker of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Illinois officiating. Interment will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Illinois.
