Alex Anthony Portell, 21, of Edwardsville, Ill., born on Feb. 28, 1992, in Alton, Ill., died on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, in Edwardsville, Ill.
Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Margie Young.
Surviving are his parents, Charles Dale Portell and Cindy, nee Young, Portell of Edwardsville, Ill.; sister, Samantha Portell of Edwardsville, Ill.; and grandparents, Lionell and Rosalie Portell of Edwardsville, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Gateway Foundation.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles West officiating.
