Obituary

Albert Ward Alexander, 93, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Troy, Ill., born Dec. 28, 1920, in Portland, Ind., passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at his home.

Albert was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill. He was a retired truck driver for Trans American Freight Lines and he owned and operated the Alexander Lawn Services of Troy, Ill., for over 20 years. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Odd Fellows of Portland, Ind., and the VFW Post 5691 of Collinsville, Ill. Albert was an avid fisherman, card player, and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. But most of all he loved the time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eva, nee Bisel, Alexander; brothers, Gerald and Garth Alexander; and sisters, Mary H. Boice and Donna M. Walling.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn D., nee Johnson, Alexander of Glen Carbon, Ill.; daughters, Diane (Tom) Eilering of Troy, Ill., and Pamela (Steve) Voegele of Marine, Ill.; grandchildren, Christopher and Justin Eilering, April (Nathan) Mason, and Dustin and Derek Voegele; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Donovan Eilering.

Memorials may be made to Jarvis Township Senior Center or Vitas Hospice, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Brad Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
