Agnes M. Sartoris, age 94, of Troy, Illinois died at her residence on January 17, 2010 with family beside her. Agnes was born November 11, 1916 in Collinsville, Illinois to William V. and Ursual (nee Gaizauski) Ashmann. She married James J. Sartoris on November 16, 1935 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, Il.

Mrs. Sartoris was a housewife and a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Illinois where she also belonged to St. Ann's Altar Society. She lived her entire life in the Troy-Collinsville area.

Preceding her in death were her parents William Vincent and Ursula Ashmann; sisters, Clara Gemoules, Virginia Chiarottino, and Mother Andrew "Annie" Ashmann of the Ursuline Order

She is survived by her husband, James Sartoris of Troy, Illinois; sons, James Matthew (Donna Kay) Sartoris of Branson, Missouri, Robert (Martha) Sartoris of Monticello, Minnesota, and Peter (Joanne) Sartoris of Spencer, Indiana; daughters, Cheryl (John) Coffey of Troy, Illinois and Jeanette (Anthony) Kestler of Matthews, North Carolina; sister, Eleanor Liebler of Alton, Illinois; grandchildren, James Canon and Angela Renee Garwood, Christopher and Catherine Sartoris, and Daniel Albee, and great grandchild, Rhyan Elizabeth Garwood.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses and will be received at the funeral home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at St. Jerome Catholic Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

A funeral service Mass will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Illinois
